Position: Legal Counsel
Qualification: LLB,LLM
Experience: 4 to 8 years
Location: Mumbai


Job description

Contract Review:
  • Working with the Sales (proposal) team, review of prime contracts to identify deviations and contractual risks from Worley contract standards and policy, by providing comments or mark-up of the documents for proposed purposes
  • Advise contract negotiators with respect to risk associated with particular deviations from Worley contract standards and policy
  • If requested, participate in contract negotiations / discussions
  • Ensure Worley Special Risks are identified to Sales manager or responsible management


Confidentiality Agreements:
  • Review confidentiality agreements proposed by others and recommend changes to meet Worley standard and policy


Other Agreements (eg. Lease, corporate documents, professional services agreements, etc):
  • Review and comment on other agreements as requested by General Counsel – ASIA


General Legal Advice:
  • General legal advice to the corporation in a broad range of areas, including supply contracts, software agreements and claims
  • Requires strong “fit for purpose” research skills


Knowledge / Experience / Competencies Required

Job Specific Knowledge:
Strong understanding of all aspects of contract law gained through legal studies or extensive experience in Engineering, FEED Services, EPCM Services, EPC industry, etc. in oil & gas or energy sectors

Industry Specific Experience:
Prior experience with engineering or EPC companies in the energy and resources industries would be an advantage

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Law degree plus experience in a business or commercial practice or in-house with a major Engineering/EPC/EPCM contractor, or with a major oil & gas, mineral and metals or power company

HSE Capability:
Good knowledge of the company’s HSE policies and practices
On-the-job performance consistent with those policies and practices

IT Skills:
Well developed and high level of proficiency in preparation of documents, presentations and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office software, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook

People Skills:
Team Player
Communication Skills – verbal and written
Able to communicate effectively and professionally and explain legal issues to a non-legal audience
Able to balance competing demands and set priorities
