Job Description :
The Head of Human Resources will be responsible for managing the end-to-end HR function for the firm, with a strong focus on execution, compliance, and building efficient people processes.
This role requires a hands-on professional who can operate in a lean environment, support a partner-driven legal practice, and align HR initiatives with business needs while maintaining cost discipline.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End HR Management
• Independently manage the complete employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, confirmation, performance management, and exits
• Act as the primary HR point of contact for all employees and partners
• Ensure smooth day-to-day HR operations without reliance on large teams
2. Talent Acquisition
• Lead hiring for legal, secretarial, and support functions
• Build cost-effective sourcing strategies (referrals, professional networks, institutes)
• Ensure timely hiring with a focus on quality and cultural fit
3. Performance Management
• Design and implement a simple and effective appraisal system (KRAs/KPIs)
• Support partners in conducting structured performance reviews
• Align individual performance with client delivery and productivity expectations
4. HR Operations & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and local regulations
• Oversee payroll coordination (in-house or outsourced) and employee documentation
• Maintain HR policies, employee records, and audit-ready documentation
5. Employee Engagement & Retention
• Drive practical, low-cost engagement initiatives
• Address employee concerns and manage grievance resolution
• Improve retention in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
6. Process Development & Optimisation
• Build and standardise HR processes (onboarding, appraisal, exit, etc.)
• Implement basic HR systems, trackers, and automation tools
• Continuously improve efficiency while keeping costs under control
Key Requirements
Qualification
• MBA/PGDM in HR or equivalent (preferred)
Experience
• 3–7 years of HR experience
• Prior experience in legal firms, consulting firms, CA/CS firms, or similar professional services setups preferred
• Experience working in lean teams or independently managing HR functions
