Job Description :
Library Strategy & Planning :-
Provide overall leadership for the management of Library operations, services and
resources including campus libraries and library support for extension centres, teaching,
sites, and distance learning in order to maximize subordinate and departmental
performance.
Collaborate with core leadership, program chair, faculty and/ or related group level entities
in order to develop, communicate and manage a strategic plan, daily operations, and
projects arising for JI Library, including its digital library.
Prepare, submit and put into effect the yearly library plan in order to gauge the contribution
towards realizing the Institute’s strategy and mission.
Oversee the development and delivery of Jio Institute’s digital library services & platform
that support education, research and innovation excellence.
People Management :-
Build a competent and diverse team; recruit, lead and mentor key senior management
staff to provide clear vision and sense of mission for the Jio Institute.
Guide team of librarians, curators, system administrators and technology architects to
build and maintain a combination of robust, scalable yet flexible spaces for library
Oversee the selection, supervision, professional development, and evaluation of library
staff covering following functions: - Digital Library Systems & Service essential for both the
analog Library’s services as well as the development and operation of the Institute Library;
Public Services & Collection Development and Management; Acquisitions, Cataloging &
Preservation; Special Collections; Administrative Services; and Shared Services.
Participate and be involved in academic affairs and curriculum committees, to develop a
content portfolio products and services for the institute
Fostering partnerships with leading global and Indian institutes, associations, library
consortiums
Budgets & Plans :-
Oversee the preparation and consolidation of the library budgets; monitor financial
performance versus the budget so that the organization is aware of anticipated costs/
revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and potential areas of cost
reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.
Advice :-
Advise the Vice-chancellor on academic and administrative matters within the library, to
further enhance the quality of the facilities and services of the Institute.
Library Representation
Represent the Institute in local, state, regional library associations and initiatives to
advance the interests of Jio Institute.
Develop and manage strategic, relationships both inside and outside Jio Institute and/ or
related stakeholders; maintain a high level of interaction and collaboration with institutional
(e.g. museum, archive centers, national missions) and academic partners (e.g. leading
Indian & global institutes or networks).
Press Publications and Journals
Ensure library has the latest press-publications and relevant journals in the best interest
of the students and faculties.
Technology
Responsibility for the development and optimal use of learning spaces and technologies
to enhance education for all on- and off-campus students and to support research
programs of the faculty of the Jio Institute.
Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures
Contribute to the development and implementation of the institute policies, systems,
processes and procedures, identifying potential areas of improvement, to support the
efficient and effective operation.
Ensure compliance with corporate requirements on adherence to policies, procedures and
instructions within own area related to all relevant institutional, regional, and national
regulatory directives and global standards.
Ensure efficient implementation of financial planning and budget management to ensure
a cost-effective operation of the library activities.
Learning Community :-
Ensure the quality of educational experiences for all students by vigorously supporting the
development and widespread use of teaching expertise and learner-centered approaches
in teaching.
Provide platforms, infrastructure, policies and oversight to support the vision of Jio Institute
to engage remote learners, including alumni and professionals.
