Job description
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Drafting and Negotiation:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of real estate contracts, including purchase agreements, leases, easements, and other related documents.
- Ensure contracts align with legal requirements, company policies, and client objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external parties to resolve contractual issues and facilitate smooth transactions.
Legal Research and Analysis:
- Conduct thorough legal research on real estate laws, regulations, and precedents to provide informed guidance and support.
- Analyze complex legal issues related to property transactions, land use, zoning regulations, and environmental compliance.
- Stay abreast of industry developments and legislative changes affecting real estate operations and strategies.
Transactional Support:
- Provide legal support throughout the real estate transaction lifecycle, from due diligence to closing.
- Review title reports, surveys, and other due diligence materials to identify potential risks and liabilities.
- Work closely with external counsel, lenders, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to safeguard the organization\'s interests in real estate transactions.
- Advise on regulatory compliance issues, including fair housing laws, land use regulations, and property disclosures.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments to assess their impact on real estate operations and recommend proactive measures.
Dispute Resolution and Litigation Support:
- Assist in resolving disputes arising from real estate transactions, including Buyer Seller, landlord-tenant, Partners, Vendors, conflicts, property damage claims, and breach of contract disputes.
- Coordinate with external counsel on litigation matters, including case strategy, discovery, and settlement negotiations.
- Provide legal analysis and support for alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation and arbitration and notices.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including real estate development teams, property managers, and executives, to address legal issues and support business objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to management on legal matters impacting real estate investments, operations, and strategy.
- Cultivate positive relationships with external partners, including clients, regulatory agencies, and legal professionals.
Academic Qualification:
- LLB degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the state bar association.
- Minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience practicing real estate law, preferably with a focus on commercial transactions.
- Strong understanding of real estate contracts, leasing principles, and property law.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal stakeholders.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional integrity, ethical conduct, and client service excellence.
